“Lizard in Bhaji,” Consumer Court Instructs Hotel to Pay Rs. 90,000 Compensation to Customers

The Dharward District Consumer Redressal Forum has instructed the Kamat Hotel at Varur in Dharward town to pay compensation of Rs 90,000 to two of its customers who were served the food in which a dead lizard was found.

Vinayak and Sahana been to have lunch to the hotel and ordered for “Puri Bhaji” on Sept 26, 2018. They found a dead lizard in the Bhaji in one of their plates and brought to the notice of the waiter and others in the hotel. However, the hotel argued that the lizard might have fallen while taking the plates from the kitchen to the table of the customers.

Didn’t agreed to the clarification, both Vinayak and Sahana took the snaps of the bowl of the Buaji and also got video recorded snd filed a petition asking compensation, with Consumer Court.

The court, as the hotel had stated that the “lizard might have fallen into a bowl of the Bhaji while taking to the table of the customer,” has instructed to pay compensation of Rs 90,000 to the complainants.
