In a inhuman incident a woman and her parents were tied to the electric pole and beaten by the woman’s husband and his family members in want of dowry, at Lingadahalli Tanda in Indi taluk at Vijayapur district on Tuesday, on Aug 2.

Anita from Inchageri village in Chadachan taluk married to Santosh Chavan of Lingadahalli Tanda, two years ago. Her patents, during wedding had given some amount as dowry to Santosh. However, he and his family members allegedly used to harass and torture Anita in want of additional dowry for the medical treatment of his father.

After knowing their daughter was being treated badly over the matter, her parents Vithal and Surekha been to see her when they and Anita were tied with the ropes to the electric poles and beaten, allegedly. Anita and her parents injured with the attack have been admitted at the government hospital for treatment.

A case has been registered with Indi Rural police against Anita’s husband and in-laws.
