Idukki (Kerala) A 36-year-old married woman who is mother of two children poured acid on the face of a 27-year-old man for refusing her to marry.

The victim, identified as Arunkumar from Poojappura in Kerala’s Thiruvanthapuram through social media came in contact with Sheeba Santhosh, a resident of Adimali in Idukki district which led for the relationship. Sheeba shifted to Thiruvananthapuram and planned to stay with Arunkumar. However, Arunkumar after knowing her marital status and children drifted her.

Sheeba had asked Arunkumar to come to Adimali for resolving the issue. On last Tuesday, Arunkumar had gone to Adimali with his friends. She asked him to live with her, but he turned down her demand. Subsequently, she threw acid on his face. She had even sought a sum of Rs 2 lakh from him for settling the matter.

After the acid attack, Arunkumar was rashed to a medical facility in the vicinity. Later, he was shifted to a hospital in the state capital. He lost vision of one of his eyes.

Police arrested the woman from her matrimonial place in Poomamkandam on Saturday. The acid attack, carried out by her, was caught on a CCTV camera, the police stated. She also sustained burns in the incident.
