Remarks on Brahmins, Chhattisghar CM’s Father Arrested, Sent to Jail

Raipur : 86-year-old Nand Kumar Baghel, father of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has been arrested on his alleged remarks against the Brahmin society and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.

Based on the complaint of ‘Sarva Brahmin Samaj’, the police of DD Nagar police station had registered an FIR against Nand Kumar Baghel late on Saturday night. A case of causing enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, caste. The complaint was that Nand Kumar Baghel had appealed to the people to boycott Brahmins by calling them foreigners. He also reportedly called upon the people not to allow Brahmins to enter the village and expel them out of the country.

CM Bhupesh Baghel said, ‘All are equal in my government. Everyone knows that I have ideological differences with my father. Our political views and beliefs are very different. I respect him as a son, but as a Chief Minister I cannot forgive him for such mistakes which may affect the law and order. The Chief Minister had said, “No one is above the law in my government, even if it is the 86-year-old father of the Chief Minister.”
