In an shocking incident, a sandalwood tree grown on the residential compound of deputy commissioner of Dharward was stolen between Sunday night to Monday morning.

Burglars chopped the tree from the bottom by using the electric razor cutter. The tree was planted about 20-year ago. One of the staffers of the deputy commissioner’s residence notice and informed his higher ups.

Range Forest Officer RS Uppar who visited the place said the department has filed a complaint with the police.

Few year ago, similar incident was occurred in Belagavi where a grown sandalwood tree was chopped and madeaway from the compound of the official residence of Belagavi DC.
